Yesterday, Monday forenoon at 10:45 a.m., the wife of our honored fellow citizen Carl Ruedebusch, Sr., passed away, from the frailties of old age, with which she has been afflicted since May 2, 1914.

She was born March 28, 1828 in Sanum in the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg and her maiden name was Margarethe Naber. She brought her age to 86 years, five months and 10 days.

In the fall of 1853 she emigrated to America and came to the then very small Mayville, where she married Carl Ruedebusch on September 5, 1854, who in May 1853 opened the general store in Mayville, which business over the years grew steadily and last year celebrated its 60th anniversary.

The previous Saturday, September 5th, was her 60th wedding anniversary, i.e. the diamond wedding, which was not celebrated, because Mrs. Ruedebusch was ill.

In the course of the years, the happy marriage resulted in four sons and four daughters, two sons of whom died at a young age, as well as one married daughter as follows: Heinrich Ruedebusch died in 1859 at the age of three, Louis Ruedebusch died in 1860 at the age of four months, and Mrs. Emma C. Dreger died September 4, 1893 at the age of 29.

The living two sons and three daughters are as follows: Emil F. Ruedebusch and Earl H. Ruedebusch, Mrs. Ida Garling, Mrs. Bertha Martens and Mrs. Lima Janssen, all residing of Mayville. In addition to these children, she leaves behind a number of grandchildren.

The funeral will take place Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the house of mourning and Dr. Hans H. Forkmann will present the eulogy for her. She will find her final resting place at Graceland Cemetery.

With Mrs. Carl Ruedebusch, a noble and good fellow citizen has passed away.

May the earth be light to her.

The grieving bereaved and relatives, like us, express their condolences.

One of the pioneers and for many years leading lady of Mayville, Mrs. Chas. Ruedebusch, Sr. closed her tired eyes in death Monday forenoon. For many months she had been failing, suffering from the afflictions of old age. Since May she had been confined to her bed, yet she is mourned by all her dear ones with deepest sorrow.

Mrs. Margaret Ruedebusch, nee Naber, was born in Oldenburg, Germany March 28, 1828 and reached the advanced age of 86 years, 5 months and 10 days. She came to America with her parents in 1852 direct to Mayville which was then in its most primitive state.

Mrs. Ruedebusch extended her influence in every direction, in her home, in business and in society. She was one of the founders of the Mayville Frau-verein and its first president.

She was married to Carl Ruedebusch Sept. 5, 1854 and as late as last Saturday the venerable couple celebrated their diamond wedding, very quietly, owing to the delicate health of the diamond bride. Now the happy bond was suddenly severed.

Their union was blessed with eight children, three of whom preceded the mother in death. They were Henry and Louis, who died at a tender age and Emma, Mrs. Alvin Dreger, who died Sept. 5, 1893. The survivors are the grief-stricken husband, two sons, Emil F. and Carl H. Jr. and three daughters, Ida, Mrs. Carl Garling, Bertha, Mrs. H. A. Martens, and Lima, Mrs. Geo. Janssen, all of this city.

She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Aug. Mann and fourteen grandchildren, six of whom will act as pall-bearers at the funeral which takes place this afternoon at two o'clock. The interment will be at Graceland cemetery. Dr. H. Forkmann will deliver the eulogy.

To all the bereaved relatives and friends of this fine woman we extend heartfelt sympathy.
