Actress. She is fondly remembered as Rene Artois' long-suffering wife Edith in the sitcom "Allo Allo," one of Britain's best-loved comedies. She was also one of the survivors of the sinking of SS Athenia, torpedoed by U30 on the day Britain declared war on Germany, September 3, 1939.
