Edgar Garland Braxton
Birth: Jun. 10, 1900
Death: Feb. 25, 1966

Major League Baseball Player. Played Major League Baseball as a pitcher for ten seasons (1921 to 1922, 1925 to 1931, 1933) for the Boston Braves, New York Yankees, Washington Senators, Chicagi White Sox, and St. Louis Browns. Only three of his ten seasons were of any note. In 1927, while with the Senators, he posted a 10 and 9 record, and led the American League in Games Pitched with 58 and in Saves with 13. The next year won 13 and lost 10, but led the AL with a 2.51 ERA, bettering ERAs posted by future Hall of Famers Herb Pennock and Lefty Grove. In 1929 he won 12 and lost 10, the last time he would win in doubel digits. He retired after the 1933 season with career totals of 50 Wins-53 Losses, 282 Games Pitched, 32 Saves, 412 Strikeouts and a career 4.13 Earned Run Average.  (bio by: Russ Dodge)
