57TH ANNIVERSARY NOV. 10
Heading under a picture of them standing in front of a wood pile extending higher than their heads: Mr. & Mrs. John Broas, Delavan
Mr. & Mrs. John Broas, who were married in Blue Earth Nov 10, 1892, will note the 57th anniversary of their marriage this week. They have lived at Delavan for 42 years. Both Mr. & Mrs. Broas are in good health and the split wood pictured in the background is a part of Mr. Broas' work.
Nine children were born to the couple, five of whom are living. Two sons died of illnesses incurred as a result of World War I and a third son contracted illness while serving with the Marines in Nicaragua which resulted in his death. A daughter passed away in 1917.
Their five (remaining) children are Mrs. Lester Cline of Fairmont; Mrs. Al Olson, Minneapolis; Mrs. A. W. Howard, St. Paul; twins, Edwin E. and Allen A. of Minneapolis and Ventura, Calif. There are also 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
