| Birth: | Jan. 21, 1948 | | Death: | Apr. 17, 2003 |  Professional Footbal Player. He began his career while attending North Texas State College, which he attended on a track scholarship. He played for the College's football team and caught 144 passes, ran 2,465 yards and scored 31 touchdowns. He led the nation in touchdown receptions in 1968 with 13. He was a member of the 1st Team All-Missouri Valley Conference in sophomore and senior seasons and 2nd team as a junior. He also played in senior and American Bowl Season All-Star Games and was a Physical Education Major. In 1970 he was drafted in the 2nd pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers and went on with them to play from 1970 to 1974. He was considered a great Pro Bowl Receiver and named Most Valuable Player in 1974 by the Pittsburgh Steelers. During his off-year in 1974 he failed to lead the team in receiving for the first time in his pro football career. In 1976 he joined the Chicago Bears. He had a career total of 144 and played in 72 games. (bio by: K)
