ARTHUR LANDER DIES THURSDAY
Arthur W. Lander, 81, retired Boone County farmer, died Thursday, Oct. 28 at the Boone County Hospital following a lingering illness.
The Lander family farmed in the Beaver area for a number of years until they retired three years ago and moved to 1303 West 2nd Street, in Boone.
Survivors include his wife Dora; a son Merlyn of Des Moines; a daughter Mrs. Art Elsberry, Boone; a brother, Henry, who lives in Arizona and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 30, from the First Methodist Church with a family prayer service in the chapel at 1:15 and public services at 1:30 p.m. with Dr. Gerald LaMotte in charge. Burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery.
Friends may call after noon Friday until noon Saturday at the Schroeder Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the First Methodist Church.

ARTHUR W. LANDER
Funeral services for Arthur William Lander were held at the First Methodist Church, Boone, Iowa, Saturday, Oct. 30, 1965, at 1:30 p.m. with Dr. Gerald LaMotte and the Rev. Harry Smith of Beaver, officiating. Two hymns, "Abide With Me" and "My Faith Looks Up to Thee," were sung by Mrs. Dennis Elliot, accompanied by Mrs. F.E. McIntyre.
Pallbearers were Arthur M., Marlin and Dayle Elsberry, Alan Lander, Nate Sumers and William Loomis Jr. Burial was at the Linwood Park Cemetery.
Arthur William Lander, son of Olaf and Christine Lander, was born at Madrid, Iowa, July 9, 1884 and died Oct. 28, 1965 at the age of 81 years, 3 months and 19 days.
He was united in marriage to Dora Mabel Lincoln at Dayton, Iowa, Aug. 29, 1910 and to this union 2 children were born.
Mr. Lander grew to manhood in the Dayton community, then moved to a farm southeast of Stratford in 1914. In 1936 the family moved to a farm south of Beaver, where they resided until Mr. Lander's retirement in 1962, at which time they moved to Boone.
He had been a member of the First Methodist Church of Boone for 3 years, and previous to that time was a member of the Methodist Church at South Marion of Stratford, Beaver and Grand Junction. He was a willing worker for the churches.
Mr. Lander was a charter member of the Farm Bureau, and was a well known breeder of registered purbred Angus cattle and Hampshire hogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clifford and Victor; a sister, Alice and two infant sisters.
Survivors include his widow, Dora; one son, Merlin of Des Moines; one daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Joyce) Elsberry of Boone; a brother, Henry of St. David, Ariz.; and six grandchildren, Mrs. Nate Sumers and Alan Lander of Des Moines; Arthur M., Marlin and Dayle Elsberry of Boone, and Mrs. William Loomis, Jr. of Jefferson, Iowa.
