Tipton Hightower was born in Newport Tennessee 1856. He lived there and Coal Creek, TN most of his life. He married Lydia Carson, Jan 15 1875 in Anderson County, Tennessee. He and Lydia had all boys. Tipton was a miner all of his life. Their sons all worked in the mines as boys and later as men. Tip Hightower was the ventilation furnace operator at the Fraterville Coal Mine, Anderson County Tennessee. Tip Hightower was acquitted of negligence. Tip would have been 45 years old in 1902.
9 of Tip's family were killed in the Fraterville Mine, including a son, a nephew, and a brother in law.
Before 1920 he and most of his family had moved to First Creek, KY to work for Blue Diamond Mining. He lived the rest of his life in First Creek. Tipton died of a heart attack.
He is buried in First Creek in the Blue Diamond Cemetery, Perry County Ky. The cemetery is not maintained by anyone and there are no visible signs now of any head stones for anyone.

Michael "Mitchel" Hightower, b. 1 Jul 1884 in Anderson Co, TN, occupation Coal Minder, d. 1946 in Blue Diamond, Perry Co, KY.
