Bernard Blake Hicks, 61, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at 8 a.m. Sunday at his residence northeast of Remington.
He was born on the farm where he was living, the son of William and Minnie Hicks. He was married to Lora Norwood in 1917. A farmer, he was trustee of the Remington Methodist church, a member of the Masonic lodge and a director of the Jasper County co-op.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Methodist church, Rev. Joseph Crocker officiating. Masonic graveside services were held and burial made in the Remington cemetery.
Surviving with the widow are two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Bellows of Remington and Mrs. Juanita Stockment of Watseka, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Hazel Carlile of Warsaw and five grandchildren.
