Evelyn June Swank
Danville woman was nurse for many years
Evelyn June Swank, 82, formerly of Logan Run Road, Danville, and a guest at the Bloomsburg Health Care Center, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011.
She was born May 2, 1929, in Berwick, the daughter of the late Thomas and Miriam Herring Hill.
Evelyn was a graduate of the Berwick High School Class of 1947 and also was a graduate of the Geisinger nursing program in 1950. She worked at Geisinger for several years as an OR nurse. She also worked for Dr. Rodriquez in his Elysburg office until 1971. She then worked at Danville State Hospital from 1971 until retirement in 1989.
She was a member of the Pennsylvania Nurses Association and the Farnsworth Camping Club. Evelyn also volunteered at local Red Cross blood drives.
Preceding her in death in July 2010 was her beloved husband, Lear.
Surviving are her daughters: Norma Howard and her husband, Gordon, of Tully, N.Y.; Miriam Andrus of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; Lorraine Birth and her husband, Robert, of Millville; Carolyn Baylor and her husband, Robert Jr., of Bloomsburg; and Linda Ingerson and her husband, Lloyd, of Kirkwood; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers: Donald Hill from Moncks Corner, S.C.; the Rev. Rollin Hill of Frostproof, Fla.; and Thomas Hill of Bristol, R.I.; sisters: Janice Styer and her husband, Howard, of Lewisburg; Miriam Ruth Hutton of Nescopeck; Elizabeth Downing and her husband, George, of Huntington Mills; Carol Plymale and her husband, Virgil, of Kissimmee, Fla.; and Judy Hunter of Whately, Mass.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Brady Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev. Paul Converse, pastor of the Christian Gospel Fellowship in Millville, officiating. Burial will follow in Jacobs Cemetery in Paxinos. Friends may visit with the family Monday 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Family will provide flowers.
