Frank L. Freeman, 70-Year Old Resident of City, Dies While at Work
"Frank L. Freeman's day's work was done. He had tossed the last shovelful of dirt onto the last load of the day. He saw it hauled away and then slumped over-dead.
The 70-year-old man, employed on the Moccasin creek project, passed away at about five o'clock Friday afternoon, the victim of a heart attack. Officials who were summoned to the scene said they were told Mr. Freeman had previously complained of his heart.
Fellow workers at the scene said the elderly man had remarked about a "drawing" in the region of his heart just a moment before.
He resided at 316 Eighth avenue southeast.
Mr. Freeman was born at Olin, Wis. He came to South Dakota in 1888, homesteading at Scatterwood Lake. On January 1, 1895 he was married to Miss Anna O'Hare of Elroy, Wis. They continued living on the farm until eight years ago when they moved to Aberdeen where they have since resided.
Mr. Freeman was a carpenter by trade. He leaves to mourn his passing, his widow, one brother, H. S. Freeman of Marcelle, N.Y., a son-in-law, Jacob M. Porter, three grandchildren, Shirley Jean, Patricia Audrey and Marjorie Lee. His daughter, Mrs. Porter, preceded him five years ago. He was a member of the Methodist church of Scatterwood lake and belonged to the Modern Woodmen lodge of Mansfield.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Huebl chapel. Rev. R. Frank Mitchell will officiate and interment will be made in the family lot at Riverside cemetery."
