|Birth: ||Dec. 5, 1834|
|Death: ||May 18, 1907|
Isaac was the son of Levi H. Knight & Margaret Thompson. His siblings were Harriet Jane, James Harrison, John J., Alfred, Jesse L. and Margaret Emily Knight.
As a child, Isaac was often sick, and somewhat crippled. One of his brothers would carry him on his back, even to the toilet.
During the Civil War he was mustered into service for the Union Army on 16 Apr 1863 at Lexington, Kentucky. He served as 2nd Lieutenant of Battery B, 1st Tennessee Light Artillery Battalion (aka Company B, 1st East Tennessee Battery). Lieutenant Isaac P Knight was in command at Cumberland Gap from Jan 31, 1864 through Aug 31, 1864. He married Rebecca Jane Triplett May 12, 1864 in Athens, McMinn, Tennessee, while on leave from the Army.
Isaac and Rebecca had six children: John Grant, Joseph Lee, Sheridan, Sarah Margaret "Sally", Fanny Belle and Harriet Angeline. All of their sons were born in Tennessee, their three daughters in Missouri.
The family had saved money for Isaac's training as a physician. After the Civil War he probably trained under Dr. Addison Locke in Rhea County, Tennessee. Isaac was said to be a hemophiliac. "I think I'm one of those damned bleeders", said Isaac when he cauterized his own bleeding after losing a tooth in his later years in Missouri.
Isaac moved his family from Ten Mile, Meigs, Tennessee to Mountain Township, Barry, Missouri sometime between Aug 1869 and Sep 1870, when the U.S. census was taken.
Isaac was a practicing physician in Barry County Missouri, where he delivered at least a dozen babies. Rebecca Jane died Dec 18, 1895 and on Jul 23, 1896 Isaac married Chloe Adaline Capps.
He died while he and Chloe were visiting at the home of his daughter Sarah Margaret Shepherd in Ritchey, Newton, Missouri. His body was returned to Jenkins, where he was buried next to his first wife, Rebecca.
