J.A. Baker, prominent Breckenridge independent oil operator, died following an illness of several months.
He lived at Metz, West Virginia until 1919 when he and his family moved to Ranger, during the oil boom. He moved to Breckenridge in 1926.
He was married in West Virginia on 1 November 1902.
Survived by his wife; four sons - C.A., C.B., A.R. and A.L. Baker; two daughters - Mrs. W.C. Dixon and Mrs. Irene Green of Breckenridge; one brother - J.S. Baker of Breckenridge; two sisters - Mrs. Ollie Murray and Mrs. Essie Hamilton of West Virginia; his mother - Mrs. Ellen Baker of Pennsylvania.
