Captured at Smithfield, Virginia, August 23, 1862; paroled September 1862, at Aiken's Landing, Va. Sent to Camp Banks, Va., November 17, 1862. Exchanged and returned to unit. In hospital at Harper's Ferry, February 17, 1863. Promoted to corporal, October 1, 1863. Absent on furlough, December, 1863. Discharged, September 8, 1864, term of service having expired.
Enlisted with Co. B, 13th Maryland Infantry, on February 10, 1865, Sandy Hook, Maryland (gray eyes, dark hair, fair complexion, 5'9", occupation: clerk). Mustered-out May 25, 1865, Baltimore, Md.
Applied for and received a pension for military service, July 7, 1879.
