Oldest son of Henry Mallett and Mary Brimacombe Mallett. He was married to Hannah Louisa Tomlinson on August 6, 1843 in St. Mary's church in the parish of Marylebone, Middlesex, England.
The couple emigrated to Australia via the United States, leaving San Francisco on November 8, 1852 aboard the Major Eastlake and arriving on January 15, 1853.
They were the parents of eight children: Mary, Henry Hicks, Constance, Alice, Frederick Thomas, George Appleton, Elizabeth Henrietta and Phillip Percy Tomlin Mallett.
He lived at 20 Andrew Street, Windsor.
