U.S. Congressman. A graduate from Cumberland School of Law University Tennessee, he was admitted to the bar in 1898 and commenced to practice law in Selma, Alabama. He served an apprenticeship as a machinist of the Southern Railway (1893-97), served as a Captain in the Alabama National Guard and was a member of the Alabama State Senate, (1903-07). In 1907, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixtieth and Sixty-first Congresses, serving until 1911. Declining to be a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 48. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
