Mrs. Sullivan Dies Suddenly
Well Known Belle Plaine Woman Victim of Heart Attack
Death came most unexpectedly Tuesday to Mrs. Jane Sullivan, widow of the late John L. Sullivan. She had been at St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato, for two weeks. She was not considered critically ill, and her plans were to come home Tuesday or Wednesday. At 9:30 that morning she suffered a heart attack and ten minutes later had expired.
News of her sudden death came as a great shock to her family, relatives, and friends. She had always been so exceedingly active that it was difficult to realize that she would no longer be with us.
She was 65 years old and was born at Marysburg, Le Sueur County. Her parents were Cornelius and Anastasia McCarthy. After graduating from high school she took up nurses' training at St. Peter Hospital. In 1910 she married John King and the couple established their home in Spokane, Washington. Mr. King died in 1912. In 1914 she was married to John L. Sullivan of Belle Plaine and this community had since been her home. Mr. Sullivan died in 1940.
After the death of Mr. Sullivan she continued in charge of the enterprises, and was kept very busy with them. She was active in her membership in the Royal Neighbors and Auxiliary to the A.O.H. and in her crowded life found time to do her share in all church and community activities.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ben Brandl (Ruth King) and Mrs. A.E. Krieser (Mary Ann Sullivan), by her step-son Daniel Sullivan, and by two brothers and three sisters, Jerry and Joe McCarthy of Madison Lake, Mrs. G.J. Van Guilder, Mrs. C.J. Cook and Mrs. V.R. McMurrin, all of St. Paul.
Services will be held at Sacred Heart. Belle Plaine Herald, July 29, 1943
