Mrs. Elmira Richard Rothrock, wife of Henry Andrew Rothrock, died Saturday afternoon of apoplexy.
Death came suddenly and was a great shock to the community as she was apparently in the very best of health and remarked to members only days before her death that she was enjoying unusually good health.
Mrs. Rothrock was aged 71 years, 3 months and three days. She is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Noel Richard and was united in marriage to Henry A. Rothrock, on June 1, 1876. To this union were born three children, Dr. Milson W. Rothrock, of Evansville; Charles J. Rothrock, of Newburg; and Mrs. Guy (Ada) Longest, of English.
Besides the husband and children she was survived by one brother, Noah Richard, of New Albany; three sisters, Mrs. Sallie Burrel, of Los Angeles, and seven grandchildren.
She was a member of the English M. E. Church, having joined it in 1905 under the pastorate of Rev. W. H. Howerton, of New Albany, who was present Sunday afternoon and conducted the funeral services, assisted by Rev. C. W. Parks, pastor of the English Christian Church.
Interment was in the English Cemetery. (bio by: Jon Combs)
