Mary Ann "Molly" (Mateer) Lincoln, age 88, passed away on July 11, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. She was born on Oct. 11, 1922 in Belfast, North Ireland. She was a daughter of the late Henry and Mary Anne (Laughlin) Mateer. Mary worked as a book keeper for Dunlop Florist for 18 years before she retired around 1998. She was a communicant of the Union Church in Ludlow. She was a former tennis player in high school, and graduated from Ludlow High School in 1940. She especially liked to go shopping, dining and watching movies with her sister Grace. She also enjoyed the living the Military life with her husband, having been stationed in Bermuda, Salina, Ks, Exeter, NH and Marysville, CA, finally retiring to Chicopee in 1960. She was predeceased by her husband, M. David Lincoln, who died in 1976, her brother William Mateer and her sister Grace Fish. Molly leaves her 2 sons, Bruce S. Lincoln and his wife Carol of Springfield, with whom she lived since 2003 and Craig D. Lincoln and his wife Sue of Pensacola, FL; 3 grandchildren, Ashley E. Lincoln of Boston, David C. Lincoln of Orlando, FL and Brian S. Lincoln of NC. In addition to her sons and their families, Molly leaves three nephews, Byron Fish and his wife Cindy of RI, Bradley Fish of Houston and Bevin Fish and his wife Kim of Monson. Her family would like to thank the staff at Wernick Adult Day Health especially Sharon. They would also like to thank her wonderful care takers Jen Jaworski from Visiting Angels and Maria and John Manning. They showed her such kindness and respect; her last years were enhanced because of these special people. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 10 a.m. from the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee, MA followed by burial in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on the morning of the service from 9 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wernick Adult Day Health Care Center, C/O Charlene Drake, Longmeadow, MA 01106.
