Eleanor and her friend Grace Miller moved to Los Angeles in 1945 to find husbands. It worked! Eleanor met Robert Heller at the singles group at First Congregational Church of Los Angeles (FCCLA) and they were married there in 1951.
Eleanor attended FCCLA for sixty-five years. She traveled with the choir to perform in Europe, including Holland (her parents' birthplace), and was also active in the Altar Guild and Women's Association.
During her career, she worked in a bank and the Proctor Silex sales office. She loved to read, was active in the Glassell Park Improvement Assn and Glassell Park Seniors.
Eleanor and Robert loved cats; they had several and fed all that came for food - 7 at one point! The Hellers had multiple bird feeders (out of reach of cats) and were entertained by birds and squirrels all day long.
Preceded in death by her parents (Cornelius in 1955 and Catherine in 1982), and her husband (Robert in 1998). Survived by her goddaughter, Grace Miller's daughter, Corinne (Jim) Schrader.
A viewing will be held on 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 in the main building at Forest Lawn Glendale. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at The Little Church of the Flowers - Forest Lawn Glendale.
