Funeral services for Mrs. Altie Elizabeth Carter, 90, were held from the Chapel of Hooper & Huddleston Funeral Home, Sunday, January 10, 1971, with Johnny Fox officiating. Mrs. Carter died Saturday following a long illiness. She was a native of Tennessee, the daughter of the late William and Rachel Carr Kinnard, the widow of the late John Carter. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Odell Flatt, Flynn's Lick, TN; Mrs. Mable Fuqua, Baxter; Mrs. Bethel Anderson, Clawson, Mich; Mrs. Willie Flatt, Los Angeles; five sons, John Henry and Nathan Carter of Sparta; Ray, Scott and Wirt Carter of Bloomigton Springs; one sister, Mrs. Tom McKinley, Granville, Tenn; 29 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. Burial was in Carter-Wheeler Cemetery in Jackson County.
