Sarah Brown Peden, daughter of Thomas and Isabella Peden, was born August 13, 1827 in Blackstock, Chester County, South Carolina.

On April 27th 1852, Sarah Peden married Rev. David Pressly; who was minister of Starkville Associated Reformed Presbyterian (A.R.P.) Church. Rev. Pressly was a widower with two young children; Annie 10 years old and Calvin, age 7.

For the next 30 years, Sarah Pressly was a wonderful helpmate as the wife of a pastor; while bearing six children and raising two step-children.

Sarah Brown Peden Pressly departed this life on January 17th 1883; at the age of 55 years old. She is buried in the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Cemetery beside her two young sons, David, age 1 and Joseph, age 3.
