Dry Goods Merchant and coal miner. Husband of Susan (Ewing)married about 1854 PA. Son of Adam & Nellie (Latta) Forsythe both born Scotland, they died McKeesport, PA. John was the father of 11 children: Mary Williamson Forsythe, Adam Ewing, Robert, Ellen Latta, John Jr, Mathew, Abraham Lincoln, Catharine Kate, Grace, Isobel Bell, William. Came to America 1852 on the 'Marchioness of Clydesdale' when he was 16 with his parents and siblings.
