He is the son of Jose Narcisco MONTOYA who was b. 1845 in Galisteo, Santa Fe Co, NM, d. aft. 1920 in Galisteo, a sheep herder, and Maria Josepha SANDOVAL who was b. 1847 NM, d. bef. the 1910 census.

Catalino married Maria Aurora LOVATO ESCARCIDA, daughter of Eulogio Escarcida LOVATO (1861-1909) and Augustina SALAZAR (b. 1869 NM). Maria Aurora was b. 5 Oct 1884 in Placitas, Sandoval Co, NM, married 12 Jun 1901 in Pecos, San Miguel Co, NM, and d. 28 May 1967 in Golden, Santa Fe, NM.

Catalino's known siblings: Ramona b. 1866, Augustin, Dionisio Narcisco b. 1870, Tomas b. 1870, Faustina b. 1873, Jose b. 1874, Epifania b. 1877, and Maria b. 1879.

In 1900 Catalino was 19 years old, single, and working as a servant in a private home in Galisteo NM.

In 1910 he and his wife were in Galisteo where he worked as a laborer doing odd jobs. They owned their own home. Six children had been born of the marriage, four of whom were still living: Catalina (Lina - who married Mr. GONZALES) 8, Vitoria 6, Vivianita 2, and Sara 1.

By 1920 they were in Kennedy, Santa Fe Co, NM, east of Golden on the railroad, where he worked at a coal mine. His father Narcisco (age 73) was living with them, as well as his wife and six children: Juanita 11, Josephita 7, Epifania 5, Ramon 4 2/12, Francisco 3 6/12, and Narsisco 2 6/12.

Galisteo was still their home in 1930 where Catalino was a coal miner. One more child had been born, i.e., Manuel who was 2 1/2 years old.
