Taken from Yester years ..... 1978:
David Edward "Buck" Grimsley was born on July 22, 1881, at Knoxville, Tennessee at the family home, to John F. Grimsley(1850-1896) and Neomah A. Gross (1856-1899) and was one of four children. They were William John Bovelle "Bode", James Thomas and a sister, Laura May. He was two years old when the family moved to Benton County, Arkansas.
Another brother D. K. Grimsley was born on June 23, 1884 and died May 28, 1887. His mother died in 1889. His father was accidentally shot and killed in 1896 and Buck almost rode his horse to death riding six miles into Bentonville for the doctor. A short while later, he came to the Culbertson and Bainville areas where he worked as a cowhand and rode for some of the big cattle outfits in that area.
Buck is also mentioned in "Horse stealing and cattle rustling...
Outlaws reigned in 'horse-running days'"
