Ingram Man Taken By Death
W.W. Birthman
Stricken Oct. 26;
Burial at Glen Flora

Wilbert W. Birthman, better known as Matt, a resident of Rusk county since 1900, died at his home in Ingram Thursday evening, Oct. 26, following an illness of several months.

Deceased was born Dec. 19, 1877, in Toronto, Canada, his mother dying when he was a few days old. His father migrated to Wisconsin and settled near Menomonie, then sent for his seven children, who made the trip alone, Wilbert 1 1/2 years old.

He grew to manhood there and in 1900 married Miss Emma Rudesill, of Baldwin, and they came to Glen Flora to make their home.

Mr. Birthman worked in sawmills and logging camps for several years and also was on the railroad section gang. In 1925 they moved to a farm in the village limits on Ingram and lived there until they came to Ingram nearly three years ago. His health having failed, he gradually grew worse toward the end.

Surviving are the widow and four daughters, May (Mrs. Earl Kennedy), Glen Flora, Ila (Mrs. Paul Hamrick), Minneapolis, Neva and Eva (twins), Mrs. Lynn Huven, Merrill, and Mrs. Walter Lamanske, of Los Angeles, Calif.; also 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services with the McElravy funeral home in charge, were held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. Lee and James Van Patter officiating, and interment was in the Glen Flora cemetery.

A large gathering at the funeral attested to his popularity as a friend and a neighbor. Out-of-town relatives attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hamrick, daughters, Betty, Grace, Lois and Dona, and son Paul, Jr., Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Huven, Merrill; Mrs. Ardith Steneland, a granddaughter, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Rudesill, of Baldwin; Mr. and Mrs. Manley Rudesill, Winter; Mr. and Mrs. Del Clark, Spring Valley; Mrs. Leo Huven, Miss Rosella Huven and Matt Huven, Merrill, and Robert Reed, Viroqua, besides others from Ladysmith, Hawkins and Glen Flora.
