A member of the Columbia Detachment of Royal Engineers sent to the Colony of British Columbia in 1858/59. When the detachment disbanded in 1863, he and his family stayed on.
Morey worked in many capacities and was a Colonial Constable for a time. Jonathan Morey is recognized as the first officer for the City of New Westminster.
