Betty Sonday, 88, of Ottawa passed away Wednesday, July 06, 2011 at her home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Saturday, July 9, 2011 at St. Columba Church with Rev. Ray Guthrie officiating. Visitation will be 8:30 – 10:00 AM Saturday, July 9 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery.
Betty was born October 27, 1922 in Kankakee Illinois to Homer J. and Helen (Lange) Erzinger. She married Vernon Sonday December 21, 1941. He passed away April 22, 2002.
Betty was a member of St. Columba Church, Catholic Daughters, and The Elks. She was also an avid bridge player and Cubs fan.
She is survived by her daughter, Barb Wilhelms of Ottawa; one son, Jeff (Debra) Sonday of McFarland, WI; six grandchildren, Brandi (Jud) Patterson, Wendy (Tim) Goetsch, Amanda Sonday, Chase Sonday, and Alex Sonday; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, Homer "Sonny" (Barbara) Erzinger; and her step-mother, Esther Erzinger.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; her son-in-law, Al Wilhelms; one son, Allen Sonday.
Pallbearers will be Chase Sonday, Alex Sonday, Tim Goetsch, Mike Patchett, Kim Erzinger, and Jim Krawczyk.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kip Erzinger and Colby Reed.
Memorials may be directed to Ottawa Regional Healthcare Hospice, Ottawa YMCA or the donor's choice.
