Omaha, April 2 (AP). Dr. John F. Poucher, general manager of the Nebraska Humane society, died from acute spinal meningitis at 2 a.m. Tuesday at an Omaha hospital. He became suddenly ill last Friday.


Mr. Poucher, who was 62, was named executive secretary of the Nebraska Humane society in 1924 and later became general manager. Born in Bedford, Ind., he was educated at De Pauw university.


Surviving are his widow and two sons, Lorentz and Charles of Omaha.


He was well known in Masonic circles and was past potentate of Tangier temple of the Shrine, past master of Kadosh of the Omaha consistory, was chaplain of the grand lodge from 1889 to 1900 and grand orator from 1911 to1912.


Before becoming associated with the humane society, Dr. Poucher served as a Methodist clergyman for 25 years and was pastor at churches at Herman, Tekamah, Norfolk, and Stanton as well as Omaha. He served as captain and adjutant for the Nebraska national guard infantry in Mexican border service in 1919.


Dr. Poucher was well known in Lincoln, having been the speaker at Scottish Rite functions and at other affairs." [Includes portrait of "Dr. John F. Poucher."]
