Volckert Janszen Douw (1619-1681) was born in Leuwarden, Netherlands, the son of Jan Douw. He came to New York in 1638. On 19 April 1650, he married Dorothea Jansen Van Breestede in Albany, New York. A biography of Volckert Janszen Douw appears at the Colonial Albany History Project (CAP Biography #2227, by Stefan Bielinski). Volckert died in 1681, in Albany, New York. He would have been buried from the Dutch Church, but those remains were relocated in the 1860's to the Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands. CHILD: Jonas Volkertse Douw (1660-1736).
