Martha's husband, James Charles Coleman was born 27 August 1844 in South Linesville, Missouri the only son of Henry Coleman and his wife Mary Lusk. He grew to maturity in Mercer County, Missouri. He moved to Grundy County, MO where he met Martha Nuckles his furture wife. On the 21st of October, 1863 James married to Martha Lewena Nuckles in Grundy County, Missouri. Martha the daughter of Hardin Nuckles and Elizabeth Runyon was born in Tazewell County, Virginia on the 17th of January, 1844.
The family moved to Mingo Township, Bates County, Missouri ca 1866 where James continued to farm and deal in farmland. The family remained in Bates County for many years and were joined by their parents and other members of the Nuckles and Coleman families. It was here the remainder of their seven children were born and where one daughter died. The family remained in Bates County until around 1887 at which time they removed to Kansas City.
In 1888 they again moved, this time across the nation to the small town of Pomeroy in Washington Territory. By 1892, Martha is deceased and is not in the State Census for that year. James and four of his children are living in Waitsburg, Walla Walla County in 1892. The exact date of Martha's death and her place of burial is unknown.
