American Author, Lecturer, and Historian. Born in Winthrop, Massachusetts, in 1902, he spent most of his life studying the legends, lighthouses, and islands of New England. He wrote many pamphlets, books, and articles, and made lecturers and tours throughout the area with his wife. His many works include, "Forgotten Sea Tragedies" (1952), "Columns In The Patriot Ledger" (1970), "Pirates, Shipwrecks, And Phantoms Ghosts" (1974), "An Island Citadel" (1965), "BI-Centennial Boston And New England" (1974), "Great Storms And Famous Shipwrecks Of The New England Coast" (1943), "The Vengeful Sea" (1965), "The Story Of Minot's Light" (1955), "The Fury Of The Seas" (1965), "Astounding Tales Of The Seas" (1965), "Sea Tragedies" (1961), "New England Sea Tragedies" (1960), "Famous Lighthouses Of New England" (1945), "Pirates And Buccaneers Of The Atlantic Coast" (1949), "A Pilgrim Returns To Cape Cod" (1946), "Sailing Down Boston Bay" (1941), and "The Lighthouses Of New England 1716-1973" (1973). (bio by: K)
