Richard Clarence Bingaman, 76
A former grain elevator co-owner/operator and former township township trustee in DeKalb County, Richard Clarence Bingaman, 76, di ed at 8:06 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, a Miller's Merry Manor in Garrett.
Mr. Bingaman had been co-owner and operator of the Avilla Grain Elevator and also the Fremont Elevator for many years before retiring in 1977. He had served for a time as trustee for Fremont Township in DeKalb County.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Fremont and was a veteran of the Army Medical Corps during World War II.
He was born July 6, 1926 at Metz, Ind., a son of Ellsworth C. and Florence H. Moore Bingaman. His marriage on July 16, 1948 at Fremont was to JoAnn McNaughton, who survives.
Additional survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Alan (Karen A.) Middleton of Auburn; a son, Kevin Bingaman of Monroe and his wife, Gloria (Robison), a former Bluffton resident; a sister, Eloise Zuber of Angola; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren. A sister is deceased.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Beams Funeral Home in Fremont with Rev. Scott Shoaff and Rev. Greg Rittenhouse officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery at Fremont.
Visitation times at the funeral home will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Memorials to the Fremont United Methodist Church or to the donor's choice.
