Agnietje (Casperse) Conyn (1629-1704) was born in either the Netherlands or New York. In 1645 in New York, she married Leendert (Leonard) Phillipse Conyn. Agnietje and her husband Leendert were ancestors of Herman Melville. Agnietje (Casperse) Conyn died in 1704 in Albany, New York. Originally, Agnietje would have been buried from the Dutch Church. After the Albany Rural Cemetery was established, her remains would have been moved there in the 1860's. "Tradition holds that the remains were loaded on wagons and carried out Northern Boulevard to their present location in Menands." (Burying the Dead in Early Albany.) CHILD: Maritje Leendertse Conyn (1643-1743).
