Bruce Abrams
(January 14, 1949-December 1, 2007)
Bruce Dean "BD" Abrams, 58, died December 1, 2007, in his home in Rapid City.

Bruce was born January 14, 1949 in Wessington Springs, SD, and his family quickly moved to Interior, SD where he spent his childhood in the wilds of the badlands and amongst the company of tourists at the Peace Pipe, his 'parents' restaurant and store. He joined the National Guard in 1967 and Army Aviation and Support in 1971, where he diligently served and provided for his family until his retirement in 2004. He married Marjorie Fredrickson in 1972. They had three children together: Crystal, John and Julie.

During his free time, Bruce loved to construct and re-construct, whether on his house, yard, or automobiles, often taking on several projects at once. He was a jack of all trades, proficient as a carpenter, plumber, electrician, and mechanic. Since acquiring his home in 1973, Bruce more than doubled its size, providing comfort for his family and fulfilling his joy of craftsmanship.

An avid outdoorsman, Bruce had a kinship with the prairie and the hills as he loved to hike, camp and explore. He had a passion for aviation and his pursuit of the skies was continuous. First it was during his career with Huey and Blackhawk helicopters and later in his retirement with his Cessna plane.

Bruce cherished friends and family above all. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He is survived by his son John Abrams of Denver, CO, two daughters, Julie Abrams and Crystal McMachen and grand-daughter Logan McMachen, all of Rapid City. He is also survived by three sisters, Delores Steele and Laura Abrams of Rapid City and Florence Quartullo of Hot Springs, and his brother, Larry Abrams, of Myrtle Beach, SC, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Ethel Abrams of Interior, SD and infant sister Jean.

Visitation will be from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City.

Services will be at 10am on Friday, December 7 at South Canyon Lutheran Church in Rapid City with Pastor Bruce Thalacker and Pastor Chris Baesler officiating. Burial will be at 2pm on Friday at the Fairview Cemetery in Interior.

A memorial has been established to Relay for Life and Habitat for Humamity.
