Martha married Morgan Withrow on July 4, 1873 in Wood County. She had ten children: Earnest (1874), Walter (1876), Mary (1877), Lura (1878), Martha (1878),Washington (1880), Sada (1883), Owen (1886), Orlando (1889), John (1893), and Freeda. She was the daughter of Washington and Narcissa Meeker Avery and had siblings Alice, Albert, Eveline, Betsie, Ella, and Washington. Martha married Gilbert "Gib" Knauss after Morgan's death. Martha died from cancer of the liver and stomach at the age of 59 years 7 months and 5 days.
