He married Martha Avery on 4 July 1873 in Wood County. They had ten children: Earnest (1874), Walter (1876), Mary (1877), Lura (1878), Martha (1878),Washington (1880), Sada (1883), Owen (1886), Orlando (1889), John (1893), and Freeda. Morgan died from typhoid fever complicated by Bright's Disease at the age of 60 years 7 months and 19 days.
