US Congressman. Served in the Union Army during the Civil War as a Colonel. Elected to represent Missouri's 2nd District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1885 to 1887. He was defeated in 1886. Also served as a Member of the Missouri State House of Representatives, serving from 1856 to 1858, Presidential Elector from Missouri in 1860, and Delegate to the Missouri State Constitutional Convention for the 5th District in 1875.
