Born Anna Raymond Massey into a family of entertainers, she was the daughter of actor Raymond Massey and actress Adrianne Allen. She was the younger sister of actor Daniel Massey. She marked her professional debut on Broadway at age nineteen and found immediate success playing Jane in the production of "The Reluctant Debutante" (1956 to 1957), which earned her a Tony Award nomination. Her association with motion pictures was initiated in the John Ford picture "Gideon of Scotland Yard" (1958), followed by a role in the controversial picture "Peeping Tom" (1960), later "Bunny Lake is Missing" (1965) and the Hitchcock film "Frenzy" (1972). She will perhaps be best remembered for her work on British TV, as she earned a Royal Television Society Award and a BAFTA Award for her performance in an adaptation of "Hotel du Lac" (1985). She was formerly married to actor Jeremy Brett. She died from cancer. (bio by: C.S.)
