Lawrence Brock
Birth: Aug. 16, 1906
Death: Aug. 28, 1968

US Congressman. A Democrat, he was elected to represent Nebraska's 3rd District in the US House or Representatives and served one term, from 1959 to 1961. Brock was born near Columbus, Nebraska, and graduated from the College of Pharmacy of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1929. He was a practicing pharmacist for several years before venturing into farming and raising cattle, ultimately becoming president of several state associations (livestock, agriculture, and electricity). Brock served as chairman of the Nebraska Democratic Party from 1954 to 1956, and was a delegate to the 1956 Democratic National Convention. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection to Congress in 1960, he was appointed in 1961 as assistant head of the Farmers Home Administration in Washington, DC. He died in Zion, Illinois. (bio by: Bobb Edwards)
