Governor of North Dakota. Served as Governor from 1921 to 1925. In 1893, Nestos came to North Dakota from Norway speaking no English. By 1904 he was a successsul lawyer in Minot, North Dakota. In 1921 Nestos was elected Governor in a recall election that removed Governor Lynn Frazier from office, and left a bitter gap between the political parties in North Dakota.
