Earl Anthony Ashton Sr., 83, St. Augustine, died Jan. 8, 2002, at Flagler Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of St. Augustine, and he was a sheet metal foreman. He had worked for DuPont Steel Buildings and for the Florida East Coast Railway. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II, and he was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church. He also held membership in the Elks Lodge and the St. Augustine Boating Club.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Anastasia Catholic Church, with the Rev. Seamus O'Flynn, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Ambrose Cemetery, Elkton.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; three daughters, Dottie Hudson, St. Augustine, Mary Ellen Masters, Hastings, Sylvia Johns, St. Augustine; six sons, Tony, Joedy Ashton and Dan Masters, all of St. Augustine, Joel and Pat Masters, Elkton, Jerry Masters, Daytona Beach; one sister, Marie Gibbs, a brother, Cotton Ashton, both of St. Augustine; several grand and great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
