Dale A. Haley, 68
Dale Allen Haley, 68, of Largo, FL, died Monday, March 24, 2008, at his home from cancer.
A veterans memorial service will be held at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, at Bay Pines VA National Cemetery in St. Petersburg, FL. His burial will take place in July at the VA National Cemetery in Augusta, ME.
Mr. Haley was born Dec. 30, 1939, at Hillsboro, son and only child of the late George Vincent Haley and Dorothy Elpha (Redding) Haley. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1958 and enlisted in the U.S. Army. During his six years of service, he was a radio controller in the Korean War (s/b in Korea) and started a career in electronics, which later led to his TV repair and computer programming career.
He was employed with Honeywell for 17 years as a computer programmer and was self-employed at Unique Software.
Mr. Haley married Sally Ann Cordwell of Norway, ME, and they had eight children. He later married Kathryn E. Pray of Auburn, ME. He lived in Maine and New Hampshire most of his life before retiring to Florida in 2004.
He leaves his children, David L. (wife Wanda) Haley of Pinellas Park, FL, Millie Z. Viers of Largo, Timothy J. Haley (fiancee Rebecca Labbe) of Leeds, ME, Susan M. (husband Peter A.) Gordon of Bethel, ME, Richard G. Haley of Mechanic Falls, ME, Dale V. Haley of Stoneham, ME, Dorothy M. (husband Gary J.) Roy of Agawam, MA, and Jean M. (husband Michael S.) Robinson of Otisfield, ME; 31 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Local surviviors include his cousins Kenny and Marlene Christian, Larry Collins, Betty Gurley and Colleen Gates.
