Delmas L. Martin, age 78 of Boothby St., died Monday, July 3, 2006 following a long illness. He was born in Hahira, GA on July 7, 1927 a son of the late Samuel and Fannie (Touchton) Martin. Mr. Martin was a US Army and US Navy veteran, serving during World War II. He had been employed by Westinghouse in Augusta for 34 years. Mr. Martin was a member of the Church of Christ in Augusta and was a life member of the Calumet Club. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Anita Martin; a brother, Samuel Martin and two sisters: Thelma Gray and Mary Bennett. Mr. Martin is survived by two sons: David Martin of Belgrade and James Martin and his wife Nancy of Winthrop; a daughter, Jeanine Thayer of Hallowell; four brothers: Jerry T. Martin of Quitman, GA, Billy Martin of Adel, GA, Micky Martin of Tifton, GA and Leonard Martin of Adel, GA; a sister, Betty Nolan of Adel, GA; seven grandchildren: Kelly and Ashley Thayer, Cody Martin, David, Jessica, William and Carolyn Martin as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visiting hours are 2-4 & 6-8 PM Friday, July 7th at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta, Maine where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 8th at 11 AM. Burial will be at 9 AM on Monday, July 10th at the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta.
