John served as a Private First Class in the 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, U.S. Marine Corp during World War II.

He resided at 45 Briggs Street, Rochester, Monroe County, New York prior to the war.

John was "Killed In Action" on Iwo Jima during the war and was awarded a Purple Heart.

He was first interred overseas and later re-interred here on June 10, 1948.

Son of John P. Palmer, Sr. and Mona Palmer.
