Charlie Quinton Dockery, 71, 5913 Arrowhead Blvd., died at 10:47 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 1999, in Saint Joseph's Hospital and Health Center.
He was born Dec. 14, 1927, in Appalachia, Va, to Charlie Dockery and Mattie (Dotson) Dockery.
He was the husband of Alberta R. Dockery, who survives. They were married Jan. 23, 1989, in Kokomo.
He retired from Kokomo School Corp. in 1993. He also worked as a barber at Carter and Bausom Barber Shop for many years, and he was a realtor for several years. He received an associates in labor relations at Indiana University. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Howard Masonic Lodge No. 93 and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 108 Center. He enjoyed studying history and square dancing.
Also surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Randall Q. Dockery, Billingsley, Mont, and Bert Allen and Beth Dockery, Kokomo; a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Dan Tilley, Petersburg, Kansas; two stepsons and two daughters-in-law, Gregory E. and Marci Davis, Kokomo, and Brian S. and Trish Davis, Kokomo; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Billie Owens, Lovely, Ky, and Ruby and Art Ohler, Zwolle, La.; 10 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Four brothers, one sister, and one stepson preceded him in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St. Pastor David Rose will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. Military rites will be held at the cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ellers Webster Street Chapel. Eastern Star service will be at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to donor's choice.
