U.S. Congressman. He attended Limerick Academy, studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in Lovell. Maine. He was a member of the Maine State Senate, (1840-41) and elected as a Democrat to the Thirtieth Congress, serving (1847-49). After his term, he resumed the practice of law and worked for no fee to aid Union Army soldiers who filed claims for disability pensions, after the Civil War.
