Leslie Nichols Dies in Seattle; Last Member of Early Family

Leslie Anderson Nichols, 91, the last member of a family which resided in Syracuse in the late 19th century died early Thursday morning in Seattle, Wash.
Mr. Nichols was born in 1879 in the family farm home which is now the site of Eastwood Baptist Church. He was the youngest of five children of the late State Senator and Mrs. John Adams Nichols. His grandfather, Charles Nichols, a contractor, built a section of the New York Central Railroad leading into Syracuse.
A graduate of the old Syracuse High School, Mr. Nichols moved to the Pacific northwest shortly after the turn of the Century. He entered the banking business in Seattle.
On the first of his many return visits to Syracuse, he married Sallie Van Kleeck Noxon in 1905 in the First Reformed Church, formerly on James Street. Mrs. Nichols was the youngest daughter of the late State Supreme Court Justice and Mrs. James Noxon
Mr. and Mrs. Nichols made their home in Seattle 19 years. They moved to San Rafael, Calif., for three years and resided in Yakima , Wash., from 1927 until Mrs. Nichols died in 1966.
During most of Mr. Nichols' active years in Yakima, he engaged in private accounting and tax consulting.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Charles F. Gundry of Seattle; a son Leslie A. Nichols, Jr. of Rutherford, N. J.; a niece, Mrs. Lester J. Fidell of Chittenango; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Another son, James Noxon Nichols, died in an accident in the Taurus mountains of Turkey in 1932.
Burial will be in the family plot at Oakwood Cemetery at a date still to be determined.
