Olive Alvie (Ainsworth) Pitter, of Wrentham, formerly of Hyde Park and Roxbury, died Thursday, May 26, 2011 at the Milford Regional Medical Center. She was 95. Born in the Parish of Saint Andrew, Jamaica, West Indies, she was the daughter of the late Allured and Ann (Asher) Ainsworth, and was educated in Jamaica. A dressmaker, she came to the U.S. in 1947. She was a loving and nurturing mother, grandmother, wife, mother-in-law, and friend and was giving to anyone who asked. Her passion was shopping, and she took great pleasure in maintaining her beautifully decorated homes. She was the modern-day fashion queen, always so beautiful, chic, and stylish in her fine clothing and shoes. She lived life to the utmost, hosting and attending parties every chance she got. She was the life of every party - dancing and singing - and you could always know when she was around, as she always had people laughing at her jokes. She loved cooking her favorite Jamaican dishes, and treasured the visits from her family and friends to her toasty warm/hot apartments! Her pleasure was visiting with her out-of-town great-grandchildren whom she loved to play and laugh with. She will always be remembered for her famous farewell greeting to everyone - "OK darling......goodbye".
Beloved wife of the late John B. Pitter to whom she was married for 41 years. Mother of Paulette Mosley of Franklin, Carlton Hollar of Dorchester, Yvonne Williams of Miami, FL, and the late Loretta Daly. She was the sister of Virginia McGann of Kingston, Jamaica, and the late Dudley Ainsworth, Joyce Ainsworth, and Valdiel Cole, and is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 11AM at Fairview Cemetery, 45 Fairview Ave, Hyde Park, MA. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
