North Wilkesboro - Mr. Willie Hampton Royal, age 70, of Oakley Drive, North Wilkesboro, died Monday, May 19, 2008 at his home. Mr. Royal was born May 19, 1938 in Wilkes County to Fred Hampton and Lula Wyatt Royal. He was retired from Holly Farms/Tyson after 44 years of service where he was a truck driver. Mr. Royal was preceded in death by his father, a brother, Fred Hampton Royal Jr., and a sister, Nannie Kilby.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Eula Faye Watkins Royal of the home; one son, Dewey Royal of Wilkesboro; three daughters, Debbie Vogel and husband Russ of Wilkesboro, Tammy Garwood and husband Jerry of Ronda, Elizabeth Norris and husband Joe of North Wilkesboro; his mother, Lula Wyatt Royal of North Wilkesboro; two brothers, Dwayne Royal and wife IvaDean of Wilkesboro, David Royal of North Wilkesboro; one sister, Kathy Royal Lynch and husband Michael of North Wilkesboro; six grandchildren, Ryan Vogel, Summer Vogel, Daniel Royal, Jerra Garwood, Josh Garwood, Alexis Norris; one great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 o'clock Thursday, May 22, 2008 at Miller Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dean Rector officiating. Burial will follow in Scenic Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service from 6:00 until 8:00 o'clock Wednesday night. Flowers will be accepted.
