Mary's parents, Aquilla Waldrop married Elizabeth Higgins, daughter of John Higgins and Margaret A Crawford, on 15 May 1825 in Crawford County, Illinois. Elizabeth was born about 1808 in Christian County, Kentucky. She died after 1870. Her father John gave his consent for her marriage
Mary Waldrop Garrard, daughter of Aquila and Elizabeth Waldrop, was born January 4, 1836, near the farm where she resided at the time of her death. She departed this life May 2, 1929, age 93 years, 3 months and 28 days.
She was united in marriage to Henry Garrard December 29, 1857.
To this union eight children were born, five having preceded her in death.
Three sons survive, namely Hunter, Palmer and Wesley, all of Palestine, Ill.
Mr. Garrard enlisted Co. F. 5th Ill, Cav., in the Civil War December 29, 1863, leaving his companion with the care of three small children. He was honorably discharged October 27, 1865.
He departed this life February 14, 1920.
